Marketing is about connecting with people, creating relationships with consumers who just happen to end up buying your product. It is about making people know that we care more about their problems than our bank accounts.

The internet has made it possible to reach people all around the world so, it is easy to realize that:

The internet is where the money is at!

Google alone has over 3.5 billion search queries every day. People are constantly looking for solutions to their problems so, it is very logical to seek to use this platform to increase your market share and make more profit.

But…

Do you really need it?

Understanding if Google SEARCH ads are for you and your business would help you save money and time. Apart from search ads, there are also display ads, shopping ads, app ads that can help you build your audience and grow your business.

However, if you want to successfully run Google Search ads, you must take the following into consideration:

1. Reasonably Large Marketing Budget — a business that is ready to advertise on Google search engine, the biggest search engine in the world, must be one that has a reasonably large budget for Google search ads. This is because running ads on Google search engine is a long term thing. It takes a while before data can be gathered about the people that visit your landing page, how long they stay, the most common placements for your ads to tailor and re-engineer your campaign and get those returns we all want.

2. Constantly Monitor the Campaign — in managing a google search campaign, you must constantly monitor its progress and remove non-performing keywords FAST because that can affect your ad quality score and increase the amount of money you are paying per click. This means you need to have the human resources to make sure someone is always optimizing the campaign so, if you are a one-man business that sells a physical product, Google search ads may not be for you.

3. A Developed Sales Funnel — a great sales funnel is a mix of attention-grabbing copywriting, an optimized and informative landing page describing the benefits of your product, and other relevant resources to educate the customer, email marketing, and retargeting people who clicked out of your landing page. On your landing page, you want to inform and educate the customer about the benefit of your product in their lives, not necessarily a direct sales pitch which can cause people to click out faster — increasing the bounce rate. Ideally, you want people to spend as much time on your landing page because this shows Google that you have great content that is relevant to their customers.

Google Search ads require constant monitoring and a reasonably large budget because after running the campaign for the first time, the return on investment is not abundant because Google tries to find the best places to show your ads so it’s a bit here or there. However, when Google collects enough data to discover where your ads performed best, you can then optimize your campaign targeting those specific areas. Then the real work begins!

Therefore, if you assess your business model and you are certain that Google search ads are not for you, you can use display ads on YouTube instead or Facebook and Instagram ads which will help you grow your audience and reach a wider range of customers on a lower budget.
